One of the regulars in the chat room sent this, it is soo true, hope you enjoy, made me gulp XX
DEAR ANCESTOR:
YOUR TOMBSTONE STANDS AMONG THE REST NEGLECTED AND ALONE
THE NAME AND DATE HAVE WORN OFF
THE WEATHERED MARBLE STONE
IT REACHES OUT TO ALL WHO CARE.
IT`S NOW TOO LATE TO MOURN
YOU DID NOT KNOW THAT I`D EXIST
YOU DIED....AND I WAS BORN
YET EACH OF US ARE CELLS OF YOU
IN FLESH, IN BLOOD, IN BONE.
OUR HEARTS CONTRACT AND BEAT A PULSE
ENTIRELY NOT OUR OWN
DEAR ANCESTOR, THE PLACE YOU FILLED
SOME HUNDRED YEARS AGO
SPREADS OUT AMONG THE ONES YOU LEFT
WHO WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU SO
I WONDER HOW YOU LIVED AND LOVED.
I WONDER IF YOU KNEW
THAT SOMEDAY I WOULD FIND THIS PLACE
AND COME TO VISIT YOU

Fridae, 19-Sep-08, GENTREK will present "Conceptual Model of Genealogical Evidence," by Dae Powell. We genealogists need a model of evidence that ties together the best from the diverse concepts already in print. Specifically, that model should
A- be internally consistent; B- apply to a wide range of genealogical problems; C- consider the highly variable and often tenuous sources on which genealogists rely; and D- accommodate the interweaving of evidence necessary to solve the most-complex genealogical problems.

Fridae, 12-Sep-08, GENTREK will present "Family (Medical) Histories," by Dae Powell. The news media continually inform us of new scientific breakthroughs providing greater understanding of serious inherited problems. In 2004, for instance, the death of President Ronald Reagan focused on Alzheimer's Disease, remember? Several periodicals have promoted the value of having at least a rudimentary understanding of medical genetics. Inherited conditions range broadly from such mild traits as variations in shapes of ears and slight congenital malformations of fingers and toes to such life-threatening problems as hemophilia, sickle-cell anemia, several cancerous conditions, late-onset diabetes, and Huntington disease (known in me Da's family). Almost everyone can point to some trait or problem that "runs in their family." If we want to listen, we are getting a message: good medical histories of our parents, siblings, grandparents, and (perhaps) other close relatives can prepare us against medical genetic problems that might affect us in future. We'll discuss all this at 4 pm EDT, or 9 pm British, in the AOL Genealogy Chatroom—UK.

Fridae, 5-Sep-08, GENTREK will present "Analysing Conflicting Evidence," by Thomas W. Jones, PhD. Any framework for conceptualizing genealogical evidence must rest upon a sound understanding of the terms used as construction materials. Some labels that many genealogists apply interchangeably in their discussions of evidence require discrete and significantly different meanings—principally facts, sources, evidence, and proof. These four ways in which specific items of evidence link sources to facts can be conceptualized as categories of evidence. A single item of evidence can be categorized differently, depending on the fact to which the genealogist links it. Dr. Jones renders a clearer understanding of these concepts, which we'll discuss at 4 pm EDT, or 9 pm British, in the AOL Genealogy Chatroom—UK.

Fridae, 22-Aug-08, GENTREK will present "Write Your Own Family History," by DarlaJo Vader. We, as genealogists, get so busy tracking down our ancestors that we forget about our own family history. We spend years—even decades—looking for even one tiny clue about a grandparent or great grandparent, but what have we done to make the search easier for our descendants to research US? Let's discuss this at 4 pm EDT, or 9 pm British, in the AOL Genealogy Chatroom—UK.

Fridae, 15-Aug-08, GENTREK will present "Organize Your Research," by Dae Powell. Everyone has a mindset for organization. Aye, even you have one. While a young lad, I asked me Da where I should put my things. In a sweeping stroke of brilliancy and simplicity he said, "Put them in the first place you will look for them later." All we have to do, then, is determine where that first place is, right? THAT is your Organizational Mindset. Let's discuss this at 4 pm EDT, or 9 pm British, in the AOL Genealogy Chatroom—UK.
