Golly..a week gone already
Rain for this weeks day off:(
Never mind: there's always something to do in the greenhouse! Sowed outdoor Toms in two varieties this week (Red Alert and a yellow one) and planted out some multistemmed Sunflowers. Hanging baskets are pushing on well and the Begonias, potted from plugs, are also growing fast.
I haven't planted anything new outside for a while so we invested in a few shrubs...as yet un-named Lavenders, four gold-leaved Caryopteris Sunshine Blue and some Perovoskia to plant under a large Cordyline Palm, where little else seems to grow. All ideal for sunny spots in our lovely sandy loam soil. Also bought back a summer Jasmine for growing on the fences somewhere where the scent can be appreciated.
Some lovely things in flower at the moment: pink tree Paeony next to Geranium phaeum, with attractive dark spotted leaves as well as dark flowers, Camellia Silver Aniversery and Rhodo yak Chelsea Seventy in pots by the front door, scented Choisya ternata Sundance near the back door, with white flowers and pale gold foliage.
