While last nights frost may have ruined many Magnolia blooms and caught the new foliage of emerging plants, Spring is definitely with us and the count-down to the summer holidays has started.

Clients are booking work to ensure their gardens are installed by the time the kids want to spend the summer days playing in them, but this year, as each year, many will be disappointed because they are leaving it too late. We are booked until July now.

This is the busiest time of the year for landscapers, when even the least talented has work in hand and customers wanting a garden by next weekend will be disappointed to discover that no-one is available. If only Groundforce were true and you really could build a garden for a few pounds in a weekend!

 I was invited to provide a quotation to restore a garden yesterday and the professional design was still clear to see. Unfortunately, while the materials were of high quality, the construction was not and the result was both unsightly and unsafe. The restoration work was beyond the pocket of the owner, who was effectively being asked to start again from scratch. Such a pity and all too common: if only it had been done properly in the first place.
