Problems with message boards
Getting Read
Comment from: bobandkate
"Our links have not been working from the message boards to our blogs, i.e. AOL Message Board: Writing a Blog. Please help as this is very annoying. See recent messages on the board,
Kate.

Yes I am aware of this issue and it has been passed on to those who are in charge of the message board client. When will it be fixed - no idea - it's a bug and you are right it is a giant pain............

Getting Read
Comment from: astra1547
"I would like to know the same as below..." How do I get to read other Journals and other people read mine" I can't get to find my way around the new welcome page properly, confusing! you get used to something then it all changes...
The above links will give you access to a number of blogs.
Those blogs in turn have links on them to other blogs.
So you basically go exploring and surfing.
When you find a blog you like, add an alert so that you know when it is updated, or add it to yuor favourites, or you can add it your own blog as a link, comment on the blogs you like, leave a link to your blog, check out the Writing a Blog Message Board
Add link to your blog in your email signature file.
It all adds up and you soon get to know about all sorts of blogs.

Message Boards
Comment from: neonblue24
"Hate the changes on Aol. I cannot find the journals message board, can you tell me where to find it. Not happy that news is now relegated way down the main page and that email is not listed at the top as it used to be and blogs have been placed under tools. Not a good way to encourage new bloggers.
Anyway, can you please point me to the journals message board, thank you

Adding Music
hi is it possible to put music on your journal?
Comment from stcjsn - 30/04/06 13:29
******************
1. Load your music up on to the web - say your FTP space
2. Go to the edit option of the entry (or the ABOUT ME section)choose html
3. Here is the code you use
<IMG height=1 loop=infinite dynsrc=http://www.cnetwork.co.uk/ALMSGIVE.MID width=1 autostart="true">
The bold red text is the source file. Height and width are 1 because you don't want anything to be visible. loop=inifinite means it will play on and on and on..........change it to a number if you prefer. Like 1 or 10 or whatever. dynsrc is the htm command to download the source file and autostart = true is self explanatory I hope.
So just copy the above code and replace the red with the actual location of the music you want to play.
Just remember the bigger the file the longer the delay before the music loads and plays.

Search Engines
Comment from: parnellpr
"Hi can you explain to me if its possible and how to make to my blog searchable in an internet search engine. I really want some readers.
************
It is possible to submit your journal address to a Search Engine. You simply have to follow the instructions for doing so for each search engine. However this doesn't mean it will accepted. I would email you but you aren't accepting email!

Adding Graphics
Comment from: paul177600
"Hi
can you explain to me how to put graphics in my blog without them being in the box at the top where photo's go, i would love to be able to jazz up my blog, thank you, kerry@ http://journals.aol.co.uk/paul177600/lifeasithappens2"
***************
1. Go to : AOL Hometown : File Manager
2. Use the ADD files button to upload your graphic
3. Use the BROWSE button to find the file
4. Click on it.
5. A page appears with your graphic
6. Copy and paste this into your journal.
Now that sounds dead easy but can be really hard if you don't understand - so if you are stuck email me directly.
For example :

"Hi, I did read somewhere there was a way of backing up your journal but I'm too lazy to look through past entries to see if it was here. Is there anyway to do this?
Thanks in advance
