Feeling Exhausted

Aeroplanes and Marching Bands

After the wonders of the weekend I was picked up very early on Monday morning and driven up to Elstree where I changed and went onto the film set, or should I say film site?    A beautiful home had been taken over by the production company and this first day was to be taken up with the second of two TV commercials.  Great lighting (Yes, they use lights outside) and lots of people involved.  A team from Tescocompare watched everything through eagle eyes and so did the director, cameraman, continuity girl, assistants, all watching for any glaring, or even little, errors.   Script changes were made even during the filming and it is odd how just changing one word can make your head so very confused and disconnected from your mouth.

I won't spoil the plot but it is a funny idea and should be on screens before too long.  As the second of the two commercials wrapped we shot a small 'card trick' type advert for the internet with MUCH less fuss 'cos it was just me messing around.

That night I was overnighting in London and Debbie drove in to keep me company and we had a nice meal together even though I could hardly keep my eyes open and when my head did hit the pillow that was it!  Zonked!

Another early pick up took me to Croydon where the crew had taken over a street to shoot the longer of the two commercials, which in fact will be shown first.   I felt sorry for the crew and security because the general public don't understand that they can't be in the shots for all sorts of legal reasons.   So, everyone you see in street scenes in films is an 'extra'.  Otherwise film makers might shoot, for example, a couple that don't want to be seen together.   It was a long day with many variations on the words and using aeroplanes and marching bands.   I got home that night even more tired BUT I woke up at 3.15am with my brainbox buzzing with ideas for Tescocompare.com concepts.

Today the lethargy set in again.  I was going to go to Doncaster but had to cancel as there was a bit of a mixup with a possible need for various voice overs to be re-recorded.  As it happens it wasn't necessary so I could have gone after all.  I'll have to do that next week now.

I caught up with two days emails, deleted the spam, corrected the problem with the blog I put onto my website and had a brainwave in the handling of a really well known magic prop.  Not a bad day, with lovely weather.  All is right with the world.

I have watched filming taking place at my workplace ( a hospital)a few times, the scene was David Jason in " A touch of Frost" and this was taking place outside the mortuary. . .it took ages! But it was great to watch and he did come to do a scene in the nursery .I was holding a baby called Sophie and he asked her name. Now he has his own Sophie I believe. He was a very ,very nice man.
The other ones filming  were Fat Friends and Emmerdale, nope none of us could get in a scene but it was good fun to watch.

Slightly off the subject, John Prescott turned up at Henley Royal Regatta with a film crew in tow as he was/is doing a series on "Class".

The Stewards told him to sling his hook so he went up the public towpath towards Temple Island and tried to interview folk there.

I hear "B****r off you fat ****" was about the politest response he got and he was last seen drowning his sorrows on his own in a corner of one of the Remenham bars.  I wonder if the producer will show that!!

Dear Cathy,   I don't know what the law is regarding background people in the news programmes on TV.  I know at one time I did think of registering myself as a model so that the paparazzi would have to get me to sign a model release from when they took photos of me.

The weather here yesterday and today in north east scotland has been glorious...Yesterday was a tad too hot but today we had a breeze which made it feel cooler although still same temperatures...Do you buy all your food from tescos then <g> Am afraid it is somewhere i don't use...Mainly because they stopped selling much of the things i went there specifically to buy (so bought everything else there too) and well sainsburys and asda are closer...I am good and use my corner shop and wee coop as well...I know about the passers by being extras...We had a film crew in my flat quite a few years ago filming my daughter & sons for a channel 4 schools programme...Although i did sign a disclaimer thing i refused to appear...For Britains Got Talent 1st auditions (the ones to audition in front of judges) me and my son had to sign official forms...When he did appear in front of the judges (he got that far) my other son and daughter had to sign forms as well...Yet when it for the news you can just be filmed regardless...Do you know would news crews have to ask permission to film at a funeral???? Only asking cos a film crew did that today up this way

    Cathy
