New hidden object games: Private Eye - Greatest Unsolved Mysteries
As promised in last weeks hidden object game round-up, we've got a new batch of these games in the pipeline.
On Friday, we launched Abra Academy, and today we've got Private Eye - Greatest Unsolved Mysteries - the latest game from the people behind Paparazzi.
You can undoubtedly question how long the hidden object game boom will last, but Private Eye at least attempts to add a nice bit of dressage onto the not-quite ailing horse.
First off, the mini games are good. Then, there's touches like the ability to build up points combos by collecting items in a defined order, and a decent attempt at a story. It all adds up to a well spec'd game from the seasoned hidden object game player.
Hints & Tips for Private Eye - Greatest Unsolved Mysteries
Q: How do I best utilize the hints offered by each contact?
A: Remember that you can get as many hints as you want, but you have to wait for the cool-down period to end as the contact hides. Also, the hints given do not follow the order of the clue list, so if you’re looking for a specific item, be sure to find all the other clues on the list first. That way, when you ask for a hint, the clue you’re looking for is the only one your contact can give you a hint about. Another useful thing to remember is that if you use the hints at the end of a map there’s no cool-down period since the hide-O-meter starts full for every new scene.
Q: How do I get pictures of the culprits in later assignments?
A: The more experienced culprits that you encounter during later assignments are very fast. They may be too fast for you to catch on film through reflexes alone. Most criminals are creatures of habit and will repeat themselves. Start paying close attention to where they appear and disappear, and lie in wait near positions where they slow down or stop. You might even justpan ahead to where you know they will be. With enough examination and practice, you’ll be able to anticipate and move to a good location to take their picture as soon as they begin to move. Remember, a good photographer is always paying attention to where the action is going to be when they take the picture, not where it is right now!
General Tips:
1. When looking for clues, try to find all of them for each scene in order, without switching scenes. If you can get them this way, you'll get maximum points.
2. When looking for clues, remember to search the whole scene from the screen edges to the very center.
3. When matching words in the Computer and Voice Recording games, start by memorizing the first three words on the list and look for those. Once you've cleared them, look at the next three, and so forth.
4. Keep an eye out for stamps in the seek & find scenes; they grant more points! There are two stamps for every regular scene, but the zoomed in scenes (like the Painting or Sarcophagus) don't have stamps.
5. Keep an eye out for details such as clothing and pets in the appearance of suspects. You'll be asked to identify culprits based on those details.
