We've had the builders in - introducing the new games site

OK, I'm pleased to announce that after weeks of tinkering, we have launched phase 1 of our revamped games site, which went live in the small hours of this morning. At the moment we've just worked on the old "play games" part of the site - video games is next on the list.

I hope you like it. Let me know what you're liking (and not liking) in the comments

Here's my list of the 7 best new features:

1. The Hot List

Looking for the most popular games on AOL? You'll find them here. Our charts are updated constantly throughout the day, so you can see at a glance what the most popular games are. All this AND flash animations for AAA games.

2. Quick Fix

We launched this a couple of weeks back, and have made a couple of tweaks with this launch. Quick Fix is your one-stop-shop for online games, including old favourites like Jewel Quest and Bejeweled 2, and new games like Tropix Cascade. New games will launch every week. (Lots of you used the A-to-Z list to find your favourite games, so we've kept that, and are working on ways to make it more useful.)

3. Dedicated pages to your favourite game genres e.g. Puzzle & Cards

Our category pages are updated throughout the day - you can now see the top ten bestselling games in each category, the ten newest releases, AND our complete catalogue all in one place - just click on the tabs

4. The pastal colour scheme. Tres chic. Thanks to Charlie and Nicola!

5. Search

Does what it says on the tin

6. Ratings

Some people want games you can just pick up and play. Others are looking for a complex gaming experience. We've made it easy for you identify, at a glance, the complexity of any games with our three rating bands.

7. Role-over screenshots

Because sometime you just want to *see* what a game looks like before you download it. All of our download games now have screenshots - you don't even have to wait for the page to load to look at them. Try it out here

What do you like? What could be improved?

Update 1: bit of a bug at the moment with a rogue advertisment appearing on the homepage - we're working to fix this asap

Update 2: Looking for Fortune Bingo, Pool, Mahjong Garden or Texas Hold Em? These can be found via the Games A to Z list

I shouldnt have to hunt for the games i'm used to playing on a-z list, i've found the changes totally confusing and as i'm not exactly techno friendly it is enough for me to go for another service provider if your goin to change it then make it for the better (just for your info i usually play pogo games).
