A miserable rainy bank holiday day has been cheered up by the fantastic news, from Richard Bell of The Writing Magazine ( they fund the Swanwick Summer Writing School) that I have won first prize in the Swanwick Poetry Competition!

I had forgotten entering it and so it was quite a shock. The theme was 'diamonds' as it is Swanwick's diamond anniversary. My poem is called, Who needs diamonds anyway?

I win a weeks writing holiday in August, in Swanwick, which is in Derbyshire. I also get a trophy! I am still on cloud nine as you can imagine.

Read about Swanwick Writing School here.
