'Oh What a Night!..'
...'late December back in '63...' that's how the song goes doesn't it? That's the first song I remember my husband singing on the karaoke, (I liked him then)...that came to an abrupt end when a fight broke out in the club we were in and he ran to the rescue of his brother- yeah his singing is BAD but they didn't start on his brother because of that! That's another story...
Back to the night in question, last night. I was busy doing my assignment yesterday afternoon when my husband rang from work to tell me to get ready for 3pm and we would camp out for the night to try our trailer tent out (bought off Ebay last October, and haven't tried it yet). I had to tell him I was 'on a roll' with my work and didn't want to interfere with that but he should take the boys...So they went and I was busily studying (HONEST) and got a phone call at about 9pm to say they had got there safely, put tent up etc, etc...but they forgot the remote for the tv (camping!?) and my hubby sounded all forlorn and lonely, ahhh...so I decided to go and join them. he was only camping about 10 miles away (just a trial run remember) at a campsite on a pub ground, I got my pj's and the dog and arrived at about 10.30pm. OMG! I couldn't believe what the place was like, full of teenagers, screaming, shouting, fighting, swearing...very nice, NOT. We settled in the tent, it's lovely and cosy, and tried to get off to sleep. Unfortunately there was no chance of that and the riotous behaviour carried on until, well it felt like 3am. Thennnn... my other half was only snoring allll night too, I could have throttled him! We got back here at about 10am, couldn't hang around there I would've killed someone! I can't believe what I heard there last night, and I think I'm pretty broad minded, I can't believe either that the pub let that go on until that hour in the morning, bet they don't get many 'regular' campers.
We haven't stopped since we got back (well, I did to write this). We are going camping for a whole weekend next Friday so we got it all ready for that. There's some serious organisation involved in camping! The mini rugby club my youngest 2 play for are holding their rugby festival next weekend at a place about 11 miles from our house (we get about don't we?). There is nowhere in our town to hold it, so they have it at Raglan. It's very successful actually and teams from England and Wales come over, I've never camped there but the boys have and loved it. It's a busy weekend for my husband as he's one of the coaches and a referee, he wont be performing however, there's no karaoke, thank heavens! He'll sing about 5 songs on a night out and kills every one! Of course I'm there throwing my knickers at him as he thinks he's a regular Tom Jones! (yeah right!), no, I do cheer and whoop very loudly, I've got to humour him!
Pretty quiet here now. I've just got out of the bath, still got conditioner in my hair as I've been nit combing it - my 12 year old has got nits! EEWWW... he hasn't infected the rest of us thankfully. It's one thing after the other isn't it? Husband is in work, youngest 2 getting ready for bed and I'm worried... My biggest dilemma for this week is that my 18 year old wants to spend the weekend here while we're at Raglan, that's ok but he wants to his 16 year old girlfriend with him - I'm not sure I'm happy about it(?) It's so different when it's your own children and I feel responsible too for his girlfriend, her parents are ok about it...I don't know, didn't help my sleepless night either and I dreamt I had a baby girl in my arms and she looked just like my son's girlfriend... (oops) this parenting thing doesn't get any easier as they get older, just different problems.
I'm off now to watch the 'Corrie' lot having an 'audience with'.............so, HI-DE-HI Campers! (and I did that with an authentic Welsh accent just like Ruth Madog!)
P.S. Oddb0dkins, if his clothes got dirty or creased he could do them himself, I've left a comment above your previous one for you! x

Suzy ~ I hope your next camping trip isn't like this one ~ and you find somewhere nice and quite to pitch your tent ~ mind with hubby snooring perhaps you should get another small tent for him and pitch it over the other side of the field lol ~ hope you solve your big dilemma with your 18 year old ~ don't know how I would feel about leaving the house to them ~ but you have got to trust them as they could go stay somewhere else ~ you can hardly force an eighteen year old to go with you ~ good luck with whatever you decide ~ parenting certainly doesn't get any easier ~ Ally

Do his own washing and ironing? What kind of evil woman are you? Do you know how long it takes a man to iron a shirt!? (Well, this man, at least - thirty minutes, but that's with Wifey doing the back seat ironing whilst nursing her injured wrists.)
I'm not one for camping I have to confess, I like a little comfort. But, I did go camping in Cornwall a couple of years ago, to watch the eclipse. My brother and his wife and one of their sons have all the gear and a re regular campers. I couldn't believe how civilized it had all become. Even so, give me five star hotels any day of the week, lol.
I don't talk about karaoke as I don't like to encourage it. ;O) B. x -
