Feeling Happy
Woburn Safari Park
A little more catching up today. After the family wedding in Milton Keynes we stayed overnight in a Holiday Inn hotel. Very plush, it was, and very expensive, especially in the bar. Breakfast was of the full English variety so it was a good start to the Sunday.
We left around midday and headed for Woburn Safari Park, just thirty minutes or so away. We spent a pleasant afternoon there although the inmates looked extremely bored, save for a few restless lions who were prowling the fence, eyeing up the deer in the neighbouring enclosure. And take it from me, they were definitely not wanting to borrow a cup of sugar.
This old guy looks a little sad, probably
because he's going bald.
On the prowl.
There’s quite a bit to see and do at Woburn. You can go round the safari park as often as you like and when you’ve had enough of that there’s a picnic area, a boating lake, a sea lion enclosure exotic birds and birds of prey. There are demonstrations at regular intervals during the day too but our timing was way off and we managed to miss both the birds of prey demo as well as the sea lions. We could have waited for the next show but it was an hour away and we wanted to visit my brother back at Milton Keynes before we drove home.
This feller was a little close for comfort.
Had to laugh at this.
There's even blood
dripping from the
hand!
We had a good time though. The rhinos were roaming quite freely as we drove round and Reet nearly freaked when I opened the window to take a picture. I laughed, I mean, if he’d decided to attack I’m sure it wouldn’t have made a whole lot of difference whether the window was open or not. But that’s Reet, if she had nothing to worry about she’d worry about it.
The monkeys were up to mischief of course and we giggled at their antics on some of the cars nearby. But we soon stopped laughing when one of the buggers jumped on our own car roof. I jerked the car forwards for a few yards to shake him off and he clambered down the side, hanging onto my mirror just long enough to give me the evil eye before running off to the nearest tree.
These pics I’ve added are just a few of many taken on the day. I’ve managed to tweak them a little and frame them with photoshop. I’m still in the learning process with the editing side of things so, hopefully, I haven’t gone overboard. It was good fun although quite time consuming, but I’m having a very lazy day today so I had plenty of time.
We left Woburn at around six in the evening and drove back to Milton Keynes to visit brother Tony and family before coming home. They were obviously tired from all the stress and strain of the wedding the day before and Ithink we woke themup as they looked a little bemused when we showed up on theirdoorstep. They soon rallied though and we spent a nice couple of hours with them.
Finally we made our way back home with the help of Jane, our lady sat-nav guide. It’s not our sat-nav, it belongs to Royal Mail but we’re allowed to borrow it for weekends and holidays sometimes. I have to say, I was impressed with it and if anyone is considering buying one I can recommend it. It wasn’t 100% perfect but it came very close. Even if you manage to take ignore the guide and take a wrong turn she’ll recalculate and set you on the right track again. Ain’t technology wonderful?
So that was Woburn and I now believe I’m all caught up with the loose ends from my previous entries.

(Just for the record, I've had a devil of a job uploading all this and there's little or no control over the positioning of the pictures. So, if it looks a little messy don't blame me, blame AOL!)

Yes, the animals look alittle sad. I think it might be because they are truly savanna animals and not made for our British climate. Brilliant photos though!
