Feeling Happy

My camera and me

"Your Monday Photo Shoot: Take a photo that shows you with your camera. A mirror or other reflective surface would probably help here.

Also, tell us a little about your camera, and how you use it. (This isn't a sneaky marketing survey, incidentally.)"

(Joe’s taking over the photo assignment whiles John’s away)

Thought I’d have a go at this assignment as it seemed like fun. It was too but it was a lot of hard work as well since I’ve never used my  photo editing software for anything other than basic cropping and a little retouching. It’s not the best job in the world but for a first effort I’m quite pleased with it.

I’ve only been converted to digital for the last year or so. For years I was adamant it would never replace my trusty 35mm slr’s but, once I’d experienced the joy of having the results immediately to hand there was no going back. As much as I love the digital experience though, I do sometimes miss the fun of changing lenses and setting up flashguns and tripods etc. I would have liked to buy a digital slr but they are way too expensive at the moment. But then again, this little Sony affair I have fits snugly in my shirt pocket and I can take it anywhere I go without being laden with an extra bag and tripod.

Also, this digital wonder does everything but poor me a brandy, although I think the newer models may even do that! (If not, camera manufacturers please take note.) Another thing I think the camera makers might consider incorporating in the future is a cable release facility, that would be quite handy, especially if it was infra red remote. And maybe a detachable flash to avoid the dreaded redeye.

So now I’m converted to digital, the question is: What should I do with all my old 35mm gear, not to mention my darkroom equipment that’s stashed away in the attic? It seems a shame to get rid of it all but I’ll probably never use them again. I thought about selling them on ebay but they just don’t sell very well. And besides, I’d rather send them to a good home for free, where I know they’ll be cared for, than to sell them for mere pennies to a stranger who might not appreciate them. I guess I’ll have to just hang on to them for the time being. Who knows, maybe they’ll become valuable antiques one day.

  All for now. x

Good job! You're ahead of me. I finally let go of my Nikon 35mm and went Digital also. Yes, what do we do with these 35mm's? After looking what they go for on Ebay I am thinking I might as well hang onto it. Maybe we'll be lucky and they will become collectibles or "in" again, LOL.
    HELLO to cousin!!!!
Thanks for stopping by and have a good weekend

VERY well done.  Great Kilroy effect, and I can't see where one photo leaves off and the other begins.  Nice!  - Karen
