Who'll make the final shows?

So poor old Louis Walsh is stuck with the no-hopers - oops, I mean the over twenty five category. Icaro - the zany, wacky guy who threatened to kiss Louis whether he made it through or not - is surely out of the running. He's a second-rate Chico crossed with a pub singer - Simon Cowell would tear him apart on the live shows!

No, from Louis's old fogey's group there are clearly only three who deserve a place in the finals: Beverley, the humble primary school teacher who has a beautiful voice, Niki, whose dad left her the X-Factor application form in his will, and Daniel D, the single dad who has overcome personal tragedy to follow his singing dream (and I thought we were supposed to have le
ss sob stories this year?).

Dannii and her young boys (no sniggering at the back) went off to Ibiza for the final auditions, and from last night's programme it seems the Minogue sister is having problems choosing her top three. Why? It's an easy decision - boot out the horrendously pompous Rhydian who wants to sing for the Queen, Scot Leon, who looks a bit like Pete Doherty after he's had a wash, and the non-descript Charlie and you're left with three teenage girls' dreams: Andy the brooding asbestos removal man from Newport, wet blanket Luke and cool as a cucumber Dominic.

Simon Cowell was giving nothing away with his groups, although I sense he is swinging dangerously close to including the seven geeks from Isette Catante - well, he does seem to enjoy the odd novelty act (Zig and Zag, Robson and Jerome... I could go on). My favourites from the groups have got to be Hope, the girl group made up from the solo rejects, Ghost, from east London, and the cheesy brother and sister duo, Same Difference, just because they are so creepy!

I think Sharon has got the hardest decision to make, mentoring six "fabulous" girls. They are all great singers, and have their own styles. Personally, I'd plump for Kimberley the "most annoying contestant ever", Alisha and the wonderful Emily, whose voice is easily the most soulful in the show - and she's only fifteen.

So, will my predictions be right? (If so I want a seat on the judge's bench next week). I'll be back after tonight's show...

I dont think you are an over protective mum. My brother who has won numorous talent competitions and an awful lot of money from them was treated in exactly the same way as your son. When he was younger he joined a local musical society and after one performance was asked to go to London and audition as he did not want a musical career he declined.

I believe that most of the contestents are already known by the judges ( apart from the really bad ones put in to make tv)  and are asked to audition as Leona was last year She had already sent a demo tape to Simon prior to the auditions and was asked to audition. The made up groups are a fix and the girls will proberbly win this year its not rocket science.

    HI
I do watch the XFactor, but must admit I don't watch it on a week to week basis.  I also have a different veiw on it.  Now I am going to sound like a typical mother, who's baby didn't get past the first door step.  My Son Justin is a good looking fella, and has a very big srong female fan base.  He love's singing, he sing's from the moment he get's  up until the time he goes to bed.  I also love singing, and 2 year's ago found a singing coach, and decided to have some lesson's  myself just to trim up my own vocal's as a hobbie not for a professional basis.  I kept on to Justin to apply for the XFactor, I also asked my coach to give him a couple of lesson's prior to going to London to the audition.  He was called into a room with a guy who was on his own, the guy didn't look up at justin once to speak to him, or through the song he chose to sing.  He looked down at his note book and flicked his pen, all through the audition.  Now I have been to a few Auditions with my singing coach as a spectator, just someone in the back ground.  The judges being three or four, looked up at all times making eye contact with the singer before passing their opinion.
Justin's judge did none of the above and said " No"  after no more than 20 seconds into the song. Justin veiwed this as his dismisal.  I have asked for an opinion on Justin's voice by a professional singer, because we all know Mum's can be so biased.  Justin has an original vocal sound, talent, and very good look's.
So I really do question why that guy, supposedly being professional himself, didn't show the appropriate judge qualities.
The Xfactor, like all show's, has to pull in the veiwer's, I am told the applicants have to go through a few door's of judgment before we see them on Tv in front of Simon, Sharon, and Louis.  Am I cynical to say, they are making a TV show, and secondary looking for Britains emerging talent.
