NO, I haven't fallen off the face of the planet...

No, I haven't fallen off the face of the planet.  I haven't fallen asleep in my soup ... I haven't even won the lottery and gone off on a long sabatical.  I have no excuse for my prolongued absence here, other than the fact that I just don't have enough hours in the day to do all that I want to do and wish to do!  So there you have it!  I have, however, managed to lose a stone and a half.  It's been a slog and I am quite proud of myself, chuffed even!  So on it goes ... the battle that is ... hopefully not the weight!  hmm...I wish I looked at cute as that Kitty Kat does sprawled sleepily across his dinner!  Like heck!  Like I'd ever fall asleep while I was eating, let alone fall asleep on a FULL plate of food!

sigh....

I'm so sorry it appears I just don't have the time to pay attention to two journals and do them both justice...so this is the one that gets left out most of the time...okay....ALL of the time.  It's not that I am not still trying very hard to lose weight....(although quite unsuccessfully this past month or so, what with all the company we have had and all the delicious food that's been going around here....)  I am still trying....and will keep trying.  I think this is me for the rest of my life I think...  blah...

Just a quick one!

Afraid this is just a fly by post!  I'm sorry I've been so busy with work and stuff I've not had alot of time for this lately!  Good news though!  I'm now four pounds lighter than I was when I posted my last entry.  Not an awful lot I know, but still it's FOUR POUNDS LIGHTER!  THANK YOU Paul McKenna!  I WILL be keeping this up!

It feels sooo good...feels soo good...feels so good!

So far So good

Just a quick one.  I know, I know...I don't keep this journal up as I should.  Time just gets away from me.  I have so much to do in a day my head is spinning.  The dieting is going well though.  I'm feeling great, losing weight, and exercising as I should.  I am now walking/running on my treadmill.  I just pop a Shania Twain cd into my discman and plug in...then I hop onto my treadmill and I walk the first song, run the second, walk the third, etc.  Ok, so I am only up to 3 songs now, but that's great when you consider I'm doing it all uphill, and previous to this I was largely a snacking couch potato in the evenings!  I feel positive and I feel good.  What more could you ask for!  (AND I hardly touch my chocolate stash....hardly...hardly...well I didn't say I was perfect did I?)

an Inspiration

I'm not PMS'ing....this just sounded like a restaurant I'd like to eat at!

For the past couple of years I have been following, with great interest, the journey of a man called Charlie Walduck on ITV's This morning show. (He has his own webpage and you can see it here.  http://www.slimmercharlie.com/webkit/ViewPage.aspx  )  Charlie used to weigh 44 stone.  Just getting up from a chair was a massive effort for him as one can imagine.  Now he weighs just 14 stone 4 pounds.  He is a massive inspiration to me.  If he can manage to lose over 30 stone, surely I can lose 4.  All week I've been listening to Paul McKenna and I'm seeing some positive changes.  I am not hungry all the time like I usually am and I am actually enjoying my food more when I eat it.  I'm not eating as much as I was either, which is always a good thing.  I'm thinking more about what I put into my mouth and as I eat it I am enjoying each and every mouthful, not just shoveling it in.  I'm also only eating when I am truly hungry, which is a big improvement.  I think half the time I was eating because of boredom or just because it was there and I couldn't resist either the sight or the smell.  Onwards and upwards! Tally ho!

This really works

I purchased this book about a year and a half ago now.  I listened to it religiously every day at the time and I found it really worked. I was losing weight quite painlessly.  I bought a copy for my friend Eliza.  She'd had a gastric by pass a couple of years ago and was having trouble shifting the last 15 or so pounds.  It worked for her too!  Those last 15 pounds melted away.  I got busy though,  and forgot all about it.  The book ended up gathering dust on my library shelf and the cd got lost amongs the cd's in my cupboard.   I recently picked it up, dusted it off and started using it again. It really does work.  I find that when I listen to the cd every day and try to follow his suggestions in the book I am not hungry all the time.  For instance today I made a delicious soup for our dinner along with some quesadillas.  Normally I would have eaten a full bowl of soup and a whole quesadilla, but today...I was stuffed after only half a bowl of the soup and a half a quesadilla.  RESULT!  I'll keep you abreast of how it's going by checking in regularly, or at least more regularly than I have been!  You can buy this book thru www.amazon.co.uk  .  I highly recommend it!

A Flying visit!

Not alot of time left to write this morning.  Just wanted to say I am still on track.  Here's a picture of that delicious salad I had yesterday.  It was really good.  I fed Todd the same thing, but he had the other three servings of the recipe and I also gave him some bread and butter to go with it.  He doesn't need to lose weight....lucky guy.  Hard to believe that this only had 245 calories in it!  I did add some extra salad leaves and veg that wasn't in the recipe, but then we did have it for supper, instead of lunch.  I never did get around to lunch....just had a piece of cooked chicken and some fruit salad as I was working.

Day 2

Did pretty good yesterday, although I did have a strong chocolate moment about mid afternoon that I had to resist with all the strength I had....at any rate here I am at day 2 of the Delicious plan and today looks really good.  I'm really looking forward to my lunch and it's only 6:56 am.  Lunch will be a lovely poached egg and new potato salad, plus a fruit salad with some low fat yoghurt!  Wow, that seems like a lot, just for lunch!  I'm not going to complain though....I'm going to enjoy every "Deliciious" mouthful! (I bet it tastes alot better than tennis balls!)

Here I go again

Okay, new week, another chance to make good.  I confess, I subscribe to several cooking magazines...ummm....4 to be perfectly honest....Delicious, Good Food, Olive, and Easy Cook....but I'm getting better. I also used to get Fine Cooking and Taste of Home.  Oops I also get Canadian Living, but that subscription will be running out soon, I believe,  and it's not strictly a cookery magazine, but a little taste of my home for me.  A gift from a friend.

January issues are always boring.  There's not much exciting to find in there.  One after another they are filled with article after article and recipe after recipe of healthy eating advice and healthy recipes.  The Delicious magazine this month had a supplement included which has a whole month's worth of menu's and recipes.  I am going to try it.  It doesn't say so, but to me it looks like it is mainly low GI.  We shall see how it goes.  I've already had my breakfast this morning....two pieces of whole grain toast spread with some sugar free peanut butter along with a sliced banana on top.  It said also a glass of orange juice, but I don't have any and so am having a diet coke instead...not quite the same thing I know, but it will have to do for today.

PS>  I forgot my Sainsbury's magazine I subscribe to, and also the Waitrose Food Illustrated I pick up every month for free for having an account card.  Ok...I am a sick individual...I know....but happily so!  well, except for the weight that is.

:-(

All this faff, and it's come to nothing so far.  Haven't lost an ounce...in truth I've probably gained a few pounds.  It's the same thing everytime.  I work and work, but nothing comes off and then I gain even more.  It's defeating....
