Prayer

Well, here it is Sunday morning and I'm thinking about prayer.  I once did a 15 minute talk in church on the subject of prayer and I think it went really well.  Prayer.  It is a word that summons a myriad of images to our minds.  Is it mystical?  Is it transcendental? Is it harnessing God's power for our own gain?  Is it necessary? The answer to me is quite simple....it is speaking in God's presence and knowing that he listens!  It's coming before the unseen ruler of the universe and acknowledging that He is!  True prayer is humble and not focused inward, but upward. 

There is a general attitude out there that says we can get what we want from God if we follow the right procedures.  Prayer is not a procedure.  God will not measure your life of prayer by how you perform it, but by what is in your heart....by what attitude toward Him it exudes.  He knows us better than we know ourselves and because of His deep love for us He rewards our reaching out to Him with great and amazing answers to our prayers.  We can trust all our hopes, dreams and fears to the one "who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us." (Ephes.3:20)

Prayer is not straining for answers.  Prayer is resting in the promise that God will never leave us nor forsake us, that he is always working for our good....and believe it or not, in a life boat, EVERYONE prays, and perhaps it is the athiest that prays the loudest!

    I too have only just found your first entry.  You started blogging not long before me but, my word, what a long way you've come!  Photos,  recipes, stories, family and always, right at the front, God.  It reminds me a bit of the Werthers Original advert on telly where dad and young son are driving in the car and the son is going on about his friend's wonderful aquisitions and  'virtual' dad, ending up with, "not like you, we can't get rid of you!".  We truly can't get rid of the Father, and isn't that just a relief!

    It has taken me a year to find this, but I rejoice in the knowledge that another blogger is actively praying. I have been blogging prayers for over a year, and - on my new computer - I have rediscovered the area for blogs. Have a blessed (prayer without ceasing) life Marie - IanUK
