There are signs appearing....

Hello Spring!

Anemones are blooming in the borders of my doctor's surgery already. And the cherry tree across the road from us is beginning to burst into blossom.  The surgery nurse tells me that up in Carlisle there is a whole avenue of cherry trees in full bloom on one of the main thoroughfares.

This extra daylight time is working wonders on the plants as well as we humans.

We have waited so long for spring haven't we?

This morning at breakfast Bryan said he heard and felt the most strangest noise and sensation about one o'clock this morning.  He said he sat up feeling his body shake along with the bed and our house.  He wasn't sure if it were a dream or not.

I laughingly told him 'next time the earth moves for you to waken me up so that I could experience it too'.  Lol!

It turns out we had had a real earthquake...so he had the last laugh.  lol!

See link... Earthquake

I am so glad you all had a good laugh at my last entry.  It was time we all experienced a little bit of internal massage by way of a good old belly laugh.

One of my replies made me laugh some more. For those who didn't see it I am placing the little ditty about the bread making machine saga  here from Sal of  This Perfect Life

She commented after reading my entry..

Jeanie got a bread machine
And makes the finest dough,
For sure it isnt speedy,
In fact it cooks quite slow.
The birdies do enjoy it,
With full belly's they do sigh,
The only problem being..
Now, none of them can fly.
I do not understand it,
In fact it's a surprise..
You'd think with all the yeast they eat
The birdies would just " rise".
S.Y.H.

My reply...

Dear Sal,

You are as mad as a hatter,
but that doesn't matter,
you're still a great friend to me

Your gift as a poet
is something
So show it,
and write some more rhymes for me.
Hugs
Jeanie xxx

What fun!  If anyone wants to add a little ditty in future please do so.

Meanwhile back at the ranch....lol!
We had a rather large visitor to our bird table the other day.  I thought the crows were big but this Herring Gull was busily pecking away at the 'disaster loaf' that I put out for the birds.  It seemed as though the crows needed  a transport carrier to take it away.   hahahahaha!  I kid you not!   That's the first time a Herring Gull has visited our garden.  They must have heard of Bryan's prowess as a 'Baker'.  Woohoo!
It's funny really as we have now become competitive.  He makes his wholemeal loaf and I make my linseed and soya loaf.  We sit at the table going Aaah!  And Hmmm!   And Ooom!
Before we know it we will be scat singing for a jazz group.  hahahahaha!

Before I go want to pass on some happy news.  My sister Betty, who has been dealing with three types of cancer, has now been discharged by her oncologist today from two of them.

She had her operation for pre-cancerous cells in her breast about five or six weeks before I was diagnosed with my aggressive carcenoma, which had by then travelled into six of my glands under my arm.  She also had three basal cell carcinomas growing on her head, one near her temple.  Today after receiving radiotherapy for both these cancers, and a chemotherapy ointment as an extra treatment to wipe up those left on her head, she was discharged from her oncologist and given the biggest hug from her.

So you see happiness lives in our camp today.

She still has to deal with a squamous cell cancer but at least these two are now out of her life.  I cried with relief for her as she has gone through such a lot of stress.

Thank you God.

I hope you enjoy the spring photos in my album.  I popped a summer one in there of a butterfly just for good measure.   We deserve it don't we after such a rotten winter?

Lines Written In Early Spring
by William Wordsworth

I heard a thousand blended notes,
While in a grove I sate reclined,
In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts
Bring sad thoughts to the mind.

To her fair works did Nature link
The human soul that through me ran;
And much it grieved my heart to think
What man has made of man.

Through primrose tufts, in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And 'tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.

The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:---
But the least motion which they made,
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.

The budding twigs spread out their fan,
To catch the breezy air;
And I must think, do all I can,
That there was pleasure there.

If this belief from heaven be sent,
If such be Nature's holy plan,
Have I not reason to lament
What man has made of man?

Seems you are breaking out with Wordsworth so it must feel like spring there! I understand our desert is covered with wild flowers this year there have been so many winter storms.  I used to love to drive out and see them, but in dry yeas there would hardly be any sometimes.  Spring must be glorious over there because of all the rain.  So glad your sister has been relesed from her doctor. Which reminded me I must get this checked on my cheek.  The primary doctor said to watch it, but it is of some concern since my mother's face was covered in skin cancers.  When she stopped going outdoors she stopped getting them.  Gerry

Lovely entry as always Jeanie.  I'm so happy to hear the news about your sister!  Just wonderful!  I slept through all the excitment of the earth moving as well.  Thankfully.  I think I would have been in panic stage had I been aware!
    love,
    Marie
