Feeling Happy
Blogging for three years.
Hello!
I was tidying out my e-mail in-box the other day when I came across one which had a link to a site which gave you a tag and a count down to how many years you had been blogging to put in your side-bar. I believe Guido offered up the link for us all a bit ago.
Well..I followed the link and filled in the questions etc; so that I could have my little tag. I was surprised to realise that I had actually been journaling for three years on the 2nd of February 2008.
How amazing! Much water has certainly gone under the bridge since then.
It was my dear friend Sal who encouraged me to begin and so I made a tentative step terrified of who might want to read my journal. I needn't have worried as then it was only my daughter, son and Sal who read it in the beginning.
I knew only of Sal's then journal, ParadiseRetreat, and never thought to visit others.
Sybil was my next visitor so I encouraged her to begin her journal just as Sal did me. It helped greatly to know that she was a fellow Scot too. Lol!
As time went on we both became curious and visited other folks journals and here we are today with lots of like minded friends dropping by when they can.
Below are a couple of my earlier entries. They weren't as confident or verbose as my entries are nowadays. I have developed in a few other directions from the prose and poetry I once placed on here in the beginning.
The following was my very first attempt at an entry...
A wonderful Spring like day today. Outside the cottage the view is panoramic and crystal clear all the way across to the distant Pennine Chain. The snow has almost left the fell tops and now, for the moment, the sun highlights the straw coloured fells. Silently a clouds shadow darkens the scene before me changing the atmosphere in the fields beneath. The sheep graze peacefully. In the distance crows watchfully perch on the drystone boundary walls. They break the silence of the peacefull scene by cawing to each other. Closer still the odd male pheasant can be seen strutting around sporting his arched tail plumage aloft whilst searching the hollows for food. He's brave! He is encroaching upon the entrance to a fox hole. Good fortune is with him though, the fox is hunting in neighbouring fields unaware of an easier meal closer to home.
Such is the way of nature.
Looking down the valley to my right I notice a zephyr riffling a silken sheen on the marsh grasses in the bottom field. Miniaturised by distance, toy sized yachts are becalmed and mirrored on the lake. All is as it should be and nothing else disturbs the idyllic scene before me.
On days like this, the long awaited Spring feels as though it is just around the corner.
Soon! Soon! Then colours will explode upon the scene in front of me with such vibrant hues unseen since this time last year. I can't wait for the crocuses to explode upon my present view! Like the daffodils they will soon roar into colour relieving my eyes from this present vista of sepia coloured winter-locked fields. It has has been so long now that I ache for the sight of them with their inscapes illuminated just as Zhivago's daffodil trumpets were illuminated by the rising sun in his cottage garden on that warm Spring day.
This day now draws to a shadowy close and now I can look forward to an evening reading by the log fire, musing from time to time, whilst resting my eyes from the written word, on the beauty of the day I have just witnessed.
A mild day is forecast again tomorow with heavy frosts expected as the weekend approaches. What scenes will parade into view on tomorrows new boardwalk?
Below is a poem of mine from another earlier entry.
The Greenwood Gate BY MAGICGENII (aka Jeanie Kirkby)
Step this way, come follow me;
A path leads down between those trees.
Towards a forests dank and dour
With leaf mould strewn about its floor.
Come, follow me through yonder door
Wherein you’ll find great views, I’m sure,
Which nature gave to you and me.
Her visions framed in every tree.
It’s free of charge; there are no fees
Through this green tunnel where you’ll see
Mirrored reflections on rippled ponds?
Or magic taps of magician’swand?
Come, take in views that cost no more
Than sitting here upon the floor,
Of dappled shaded greenery;
With grass and moss as your settee.
Windflowers dance upon the floor,
As you step through the wooden door.
This links the outside world to here,
A place for calmness; no more fear.
Wildlife abounds within this bower.
I’m sure you’ll browse for countless hours
In contemplative solitude,
Find peace at last in this green wood.
You’ll find out soon in quick point rhyme
How flowers in the forest will dance in time
To every heart beat that you drum
Knowing that here…. His kingdom’s come.
Take care & God Bless
