A FATHER'S Day card has been left at the scene of young man's murder. The 28-year-old was stabbed to death in a children's playground at the weekend. Cops investigating his murder have refused to reveal the victim's identity until his next of kin have been informed. At least four bunches of flow-ers, candles and effigies of the Virgin Mary have been placed at the scene of the murder. Among them are cards addressed to "Blue". One is a home-made Father's Day card taped to a bunch of flowers. It reads simply,"Manaylia". Witnesses told cops a fight had broken out between a group of men outside Key House, Magee Street, on the Kennington Park Estate. Cops were called at around 10.30pm on Friday after reports the injured man had been found in the children's playground, which is overlooked by five-storey blocks of flats. One witness said he saw police and ambulance workers battling to save the man's life as he lay on the ground. The victim later died in hospital. Two suspects, described as black, ran off and no arrests have been made. One resident, who was too scared to be named, said: "People are always hanging around there, drinking and smoking. "You come here any night and you will see them in the playground. "We had a shooting a few weeks ago and things just seem to be getting worse." A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death was stab wounds. Cops said they are not prepared to discuss what happened to the victim any further. Anyone with information should contact the incident room on 020 7321 9251 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. |
