MYATT'S FIELDS PARK FAIR  23 JUNE 07  2-6PM - invitation to be a stallholder

Myatt’s Fields Park Fair –

Saturday 23rd June 2007 (2pm-6pm)

We are writing to invite you to take a stall in this year’s Myatt’s Fields Park Fair (the first since 2004).  The aim of this year’s event is to celebrate and explore the history of the park and particularly its founders, the Minet Family who as French Huguenots fled persecution in France in the 1600s. We would like to link the history with contemporary times and focus on francophone communities in general and profile their contribution to the area, with a celebration of the arts and culture of all French speaking communities.

There will be music and dancing, typical games from francophone communities (boules, French cricket), a French farmers market; stalls to promote the activities of local francophone organisations/groups.  We also plan to have a range of local stalls, with or without the French connection, which is why we should like to invite you to participate this year.

We have two types of stalls: those for community groups and other non profit making groups, as well as a range of commercial stalls.  The price of a stall for community/non-profit groups is £25.  The cost of a stall for purely commercial purposes is £30.  Our preference is for stalls which sell arts and crafts and handmade goods.  We discourage general jumble and second hand clothes stalls.

We have a very limited number of tables and chairs available, so we strongly encourage you to bring your own.  Perhaps you or a friend have a decorating table or other folding table which you can bring by car into the park.  Not having to provide a table means a great saving in money and volunteer time for the Fair’s organisers.  If you have no access to chairs or  tables, then come early to the park (say, around 11am), when a few tables and chairs will be available.

The best thing is to have as many different types of stalls as possible.  Perhaps you could use your imagination in providing some participation games or quizzes. Please decorate your stall as cheerfully as you please!  Even, better, if you can think of a French connection, then exploit it, decorate your stall in the Tricolour, blue, white and red.

If you have any questions, please contact Lindsay Avebury on 0207 640 2306, or at lindsayavebury@hotmail.com, or write to her at 26 Flodden Road, London SE5 9LH.

This year’s fair is being organised by the  Myatt's Fields Park Project Group (MFPPG) and Camberwell Arts, who are holding the event during the Camberwell Arts festival  (June 16 – 24, 2007), on Saturday 23rd June 2007 from 2pm to 6pm.
