Regional newspapers face a relentless search for the local angle (which is why a south London paper greeted Prince Charles’s 1981 wedding with the headline “Kennington landowner weds”). So congratulations to the Lancashire Telegraph, which has just marked the 40th anniversary of the Sgt Pepper album with news that there are now just 200 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire - a big improvement on the 4,000 mentioned by the Beatles.
