05-3-12 Greenacres
Back to Havens then… This was a slightly unusual gig for us as we were without Andrea this day. We had a replacement buddy in the form of Jo, however, so that made the numbers up somewhat.
On the way to the gig we bagged a McDonalds – as I was remembering not being able to find any food last time we were at Greenacres (it’s a priority, don’tchaknow…), and got some nice photos of lovely, sunny, blue sky – rather unusual for an English February.
When we got to Greenacres, we found the dressing rooms had been changed around, cleaned and repainted – and even the backstage toilet had been sorted out! I was well impressed.
It was a bit tedious, waiting around after soundcheck, as usual, but we took ourselves off out of camp for a while and killed some time in a pub called The Australian (or something similar), which we’ve been to before. Had some nice food and a few laughs. When the time came for going back to Havens and going on stage, of course, we all rose to the occasion and had a really good show. The space onstage normally reserved for the drums was filled by our very own Dave (hiding behind the mixing desk), which was quite funny at lots of points in the set – especially when it came to the words ‘Tell me, who is she?’ in Tell Me Ma, and we drew attention to Dave being something of a ‘foreign body’ and had a good giggle about it. We sound a bit silly, really, don’t we? You had to be there…!
Best gain of the night was my new ‘T-Co’ light pen, given to me by one of the Haven’s Crew there, which comes in very handy indeed, when travelling home in the van and getting the urge to scribble.
