Sdapeze's Colchester

Some good news at last. We have been told that Colchester to have its festival back. Following the demise of the Colchester Carnival as a result of the health and safety brigade, a group of volunteers came to the aid of the party and for six years staged the Colchester Festival. Initially it was given some financial help from the borough council but this soon stopped, leaving the group to fight on, getting the all important sponsorship from private backers. However, it all came to an end when the funding dried up and the Colchester Military Festival came about. Now that the town has no festival again, it has been decided to put a sum of around £80,000 into festival co-ordination. I shall wait with interest to see what we get for our money, especially as the original festival volunteers would have done it for nothing - but were never given the chance!
