Return to the skies.
The weather has finally turned flyable, and Rochester has dried out. 2 weeks ago I managed to get flying again, and have nmade 4 trips over to France. No photos yet because my trusty Olympus camera has given up the ghost, and I am in the process of buying another camera.
Heartbraking news regarding the cafe at Calais aeroport. Jenny has retired and the cafe has been closed down. When I am paying my landing fees I can see in through the windows where we used to go for coffe and food and to practice speaking French, and all is deserted, empty, gone. I can see in my minds eye all the wonderful characters that used to frequent the place and it will be lovely if the cafe re-opens, but there is no sign of that as yet.
The cafe in the village square in Marck is now open 7 days per week, and I have taken to walking the short distance from the airport into Marck for coffee. It is very pleasant sitting outside the cafe/bar looking across the square to the townhall, viewing the comings and goings and relaxing in the sunshine for a couple of hours in France. France seems to be EU free and the French seem to carry on as they wish to, free of interference. Seems to be some truth in the saying that 'if you wish to escape the EU, go and live in France'. It's nice landing at Calais airport, and the only flag you see is the French tricolour.
I am hoping to visit the cafe at Marck this weekend and will get some photographs with my replacement camera. No sea fog with any luck. a bien tot.

Hi! Malcomb! I thought you had gone away! I enjoyed the refreshing comments on strolling into Marsk, people watching, and the derelict cafe at Calais airport. For a moment I thought you were going to reminisce either about 'Ullo, Ullo?' -Monseur Rennee, or about the fall of France and blowing up the Hurricanes not fit to fly before you go? But your version was better. I could see the morning mist rising off the grass across the fields. Good luck with the next Camera.

I am trying to loose weight, so I will reward myself only when I feel lighter. For the moment your plane would not be able to carry me :D
