Where to begin?
Hello!
I was going to do an update for weeks now, but time has been taken up with my own Health issues, and close Family.
I had a bit of a scare recently, having had a small lump on the top of my Ear, so small you wouldn't have noticed! I mentioned it on a recent visit to the Maxillofacial Clinic....nothing to do with my illness, but they wrote of to my Dr, and I received a letter within two days, asking me to make an urgent appointment with any Dr at my surgery, as soon as possible, and definately within 2 weeks. I got the appointment, and would you believe the offending article, came away on it's own, and it had bothered me for months, couldn't bear to touch it, or lay on it. It appears to have come away in the shower or something. So, I did attend the appointment, but nothing to show, well actually they had seen me 7yrs ago with the same type of thing, removed it, and it had come back in the same place...strange!
My condition is stable, with medication, and this along with the Diabetes is being reasonably controlled, and I go for Blood tests today (Thursday)
Our Family is saddened at the diagnosis of my BIL Edward (Ted). He has been unwell since the New Year, and back and forth to Hospital. To me he has had all the symptoms of Cancer, and not getting any better, He attended Hospital yesterday (Wednesday), with a view to some Radiotherapy and has finally been dignosed with Stage 3 Bladder Cancer, and they are unable to give this, and say he would not survive an operation. When I saw him last week, he looked really unwell, and has lost around 5 stones, he is also a Diabetic. He is to have the Macmillan Nurses treat him at home, and he has no more Hospital appointments. We thought things were bad, but this has hit me really hard today, and hard to take in just now.
I don't follow any organised Religion, and don't pray, but like to think there is 'someone looking out for us'. I know a lot of Journalers pray for others, so would appreciate any kindness offered for him.
*Thank you to Jeannette (Jottings) and Stevie for asking after me recently,
All for now

We are Home again!

Just to say.....we are Home after a lovely Holiday. The weather was very mixed, and some torrential rain....BUT we were in the Car at the time, thank goodness. Our cottage was lovely and immaculate in every way,and the owners who lived next door didn't bother us at all.
...Our Cottage
The Area (Broadwoodwidger)
One of our trips out was to BOSCASTLE, if you remember, the river burst it's banks, and caused havoc. Around 84 cars were swept away into the Harbour, some never recovered. They are slowly building this pretty little place, didn't realise it was 4yrs ago in 2004.I will try to post some picture later perhaps.

Allan went a walk on the first Day and picked me these wild flowers. I felt guilty at first, but two days later the Grass cutter went along the lane, and all were gone! I've never seen Wild Honeysuckle.
We had a scare one night at the cottage....as the Carbon Monoxide alarm went off, it stated in the Guest book, if alarm sounds get out immediately, and contact the owners. We had the Gas fire on for a long time that night, as it was quite cold. Allan had a look at it, and felt it could be the Battery. However, we went over to the owners House, a battery was replaced, and lo and behold, problem solved. The Fire looked brand new, and had only been serviced the previous week.
This is only a brief entry, as I haven't been too well since we came back....but the HOT weather doen's suit meat all. In fact I have to stay out of the Sun, (some of my medication can cause Skin Cancer) and my Lounge and Bedroom are South facing, so I get the Sun all day, the Patio is a real Sun trap, and Allan loves it... (when it appears).I now go to the Dr's on 12th, and then Hospital on the 17th, so the appointments are starting again.
I went to my Mum's Grave on Sunday, and called in to see my Sister and Brother-in-law. He has been unwell since around March, lost a lot of weight, and blood in his Urine. He also had a very sore throat, so was given Antibiotics. they have diagnosed a Tumour in his Bladder. He is going in Hospital on the 12th, so we are hoping he will improve, as he look so ill, and he was quite heavily built. While we were there, my Nephew and his Wife arrived with the newborn James Edward...he had to be left in Hospital at first, he was born on May 13th and only weighed around 5lbs. He looks perfect in every way though! Must get on with the 'Knitting'
A few tears shed this morning, as it would have been my Son's Birthday today, and it will be 10yrs in December since he died in a tragic road accident. He was blameless, somone crossed the solid white line coming in the opposite direction, it involved 4 cars altogether, but he was the only one to lose his life. A notorious place, and he was the 15th to die there, I think the number now stands at 26, but they have had to install cameras etc....
Must get on now, as Allan is due shortly, he will cut my Grass, as he does every week. We were in the Garden late on Sunday, and a passer by asked if it was my Garden? He said it was lovely, and that he passes it every morning on his way to work, and it was the best on the Estate....I doubt that, but what a lovely compliment!

My Birdfeeder which Allan made, about 9yrs ago, and I brought it with me, when I moved here in 2002, and one of my Hanging Baskets.
All for now

Feeling Happy
Monday 26th May

Thought I had better say Hello!....and add an update....I did mention in my last Entry, that I had some better news!...the fact being both the Hospitals I attend with my condition (Cicatricial Pemphigoid) are pleased to say that ..they feel things are stable just now. I still have all the same symptoms, but it is being controlled by medication....I also now only have to have blood taken once a month, instead of weekly, and I have longer between Hospital appointments, which is good news for me.
It is cold, and very breezey here today, but we have escaped the rain so far. That is forecast for Tuesday......but hopefully we will visit my Mum's grave, and then on to my Son's grave at Penistone. I still grieve for them both, Mum only passed away last October, but I so miss her, Michael tragically died 10yrs ago this December, and it seems like only yesterday, I got that phonecall.
Allan is on Holiday from work this week and next. We go to Devon on the 31st and have rented a Cottage in Broadwoodwidger...no I've never heard of it before either. It is very rural, and near to Dartmoor. We mostly visit The English Lakes or further up in the North, but we have decided to go down the country for a change, although it is a lot longer Journey.
I have started to knit again, not done any for ages! but was prompted when my Nephew and his Wife were awaiting another little addition to their Family, they have a little girl (Holly). However, the day after I started the small item, the Mother to be was kept in Hospital with Pre Eclampsia, so James Edward was born 6 weeks premature by Ceasarian. Pleased to say Mum is Home now, Baby is doing well, but unable to come home as yet.....so I have to get going and finish the item!...a pale Blue jacket. I was knitting the second size, but as he is so tiny, have altered it to a 'new born' size.
My Bed is calling me, so must close now, and hopefully update soon.

Easter Weekend

Just to wish my Journal Friends a pleasant Weekend......We are staying put, apart from Allan having a walk this morning....It was our 20th Anniversary on the 14th March, and such a lot has happened 1988 - 2008, especially with my Health.....BUT some better news, which I will speak of in my next Entry.
Allan was up at 5.00am...to go walking in Derbyshire. He has just rung me from Stanage Edge...and you will often find him there....If you do take a look at the lovely pictures, when you get to the one Higger Tor....a few years ago Allan found a Balloon up there with a tag on, it was from a Schoolboy in Wales, it was from a School event, to see whos Balloon travelled the furthest. anyhow I wrote to the School, and the Boy Matthew wrote back to me, it went on for a while and then as he grew up and into Senior School, it slowly came to an end. I still have the Photograph he sent me....
Allan and I will meet up after Lunch....so must go get ready. It's so cold today, but the Sun is slowly appearing.

*Before I go....just to say 'Thank You' Sugar for thinking of me, and hope you spend a pleasant Weekend with 'The Furr Babies'.

EARTHQUAKE
YES! the Earth did move for me......well no actually the Floor came up and hit me....
It's widely known now that we in the UK experienced an Earthquake at around 12.56am this morning.
I do see Allan on Tuesday evening when he finishes work, and we usually have an evening meal, then on to the Supermarket. I haven't been too well lately, but that is a daily thing, and just live from day to day,and enjoy the better Days.I had mentioned not seeing him, as didn't feel like Company really...not even his. One of the things, living alone. Anyhow, we decided to meet as I needed Groceries etc. Apart from the problem with my Immune System, readers of my previous Journal will remember, that I fell down a flight of stairs at Home in November 2005, it did set of Arthritis, and I have been offered Knee replacement, but have declined, some days are better than others..will not go down that route, unless it gets that I can't walk. Only problem is my House is on 4 floors, so small runs of 7 stairs between them.....Well back to last night, I had been in a lot of pain, all down my right side, from the shoulder down. the Shoulder has been a problem (Frozen Shoulder) and I have had Cortisone injections. However, with the diagnosis of Pemphigoid last August, my own Practice Dr feels that, as I am on so many tablets, along with Diabetes, and under active Thyroid medication, she feels enough is enough...so to speak.
Anyhow, after Allan had left I came on PC, wanted to be really tired, so I may sleep better. After about an hour, Just started to close down, and heard 'the noise'....didn't know where it was coming from, sounded like an Articulated lorry had rammed the House. I jumped up, and looked out of windows, and nothing. My outside Security lights hadn't come on at all. I was very frightened, living alone didn't use to bother me, but you hear such things. I made my way down 3 flights of stairs, and was going to look out the Patio at the front of the house....However, I missed the last step, and the next thing I was lying in front of the French Doors, on my front. My left Breast was really hurting, my elbow, and knee everything down my left side....couldn't get up at first via my knees, so sort of scrambled to reach the Phone, and 'phoned Allan. I felt ever so guilty, but he always says to phone if I'm in trouble. by this time it was around 1.20am, and he has to get up before 6.00am for work. He answered me straight away, and was laid awake, hoping I was alright...We live about 15 mins away from each other (by Car)Anyhow he came straight down, and bathed my Knee, and cut elbow, brought me a drink etc, and we finally said 'Goodnight' at about 2.20am. I didn't sleep, only for about an hour..couldn't bear the Bedclothes touching me. I do feel bruised and battered, but nothing appears broken, and I can get around the House...just.
So yes, the Earthquake did affect me, without it I wouldn't have been walking around the House in the middle of the Night!
I'd had thoughts yesterday that I would try to get in the Garden today...so many plants sitting there waiting to be put in. It has been a milder Day, and some Sunshine. But alas, they will have to wait a little longer.

All my houseplants are doing well, and this Trasdescantia Zebrina.....bathing in the Sunshine today, desperately needs a 'Haircut'

Must go and cook my evening Meal now....Scampi and Chips...something without too much effort :>)
'Bye for now

Tuesday 19th February

Just a brief Entry tonight.....It's getting late! But I have been experimenting with some 'Photos I took today. I'm still getting to know my way around this PC, and what Programmes it has.
Here are a couple of them, if it works for me! I was very surprised to get this far, so they may disapear! Our weather this morning was Freezing Fog,and around -9, it never warmed up all day. In fact it took me until around 3.00pm before I felt the house warm up. The pictures are taken through my Office Window,on the fourth floor of my home,at the back of the House. They were taken through the glass, and yes they are that close. They look rather pretty later in the year, but I do need Allan to prune them. The view is what I saw all day. It usually warms up through the Day, and things start to thaw....but not today. I released the Ice from the Birds water, and it still sits there in a frozen lump.
Allan was here tonight, and we had lazy evening.....ate our meal, then just stayed in the warm and watched TV. we enjoy Masterchef, and there was a Lake District walk on before that, which I taped for later....that is on every Tuesday, and great fun, as Allan has walked those paths many times on our Lake District Holidays.
.........................
I have only one Medical appointment this week, Doctors visit on Thursday...Taxi there, so hoping it warms up a little for my walk back!
All for now

February 14th

Hello! again......I've tried to find the time and energy to make an Entry today, but not feeling too well last couple of Days. Nothing in particular, just very tired, and slightly nauseus, a symptom of my 'condition.'Had Dental treatment yesterday, and Dr's appointment today, I did the walk back, after Taxi there, and the weather has changed so much, back to Cold again. :>(
On my own today, we decided to go out tomorrow for a meal,as last year we drove around trying to find somwhere to eat on Valentines Day, and is was hard to find place, as we hadn't prebooked. Also we prefer it 'quieter'.....and I may feel more up to it. was looking forward to going out in the lovely Sunshine of the last few days.
Hopefully, we will travel to Derbyshire, and probably drive through Chatsworth.....one of our favourite places, and head for Buxton, and have a meal there. We found a place (Italian) not too busy, and have eaten there several times. Genuine Italian owner, and I love his Lasagne.
Allan brought Flowers over last night, couldn't show you, as Allan has my camera at the moment, he also gave me a 'cute' ceramic frog for the garden...and a Card, but we send Cards all the time to each other....just because!
The Roses above on my Dining Table were brought by a Friend last Wednesday, they were in full bloom...just like they look now,and they have never 'moved',good old M&S.... everyone thought they were 'silk' ones.
Coping with PC, but still prefer my older version...and we took the 'all in one' Printer back, as I wasn't happy with that either...so I'm back using my old peripherals. At least I can get online... shh!
If you remember my Page was all over the place, and particularly 'All about me',hopefully, its back with kind help from Vish of AOL journals Production Team. I will update that soon, but would like to thank Sugar for the 'Nice Matters' award, displayed there.
Hope everyone is enjoying this 'Special' Day.

Success!
Hello! to you all, and I'm back on AOL....Allan picked up a disc from Asda on his way home tonight, and I was back updated within about 15 mins. Have never been so pleased about this ISP, but after where I was,in the middle of nowhere, so glad to have sorted most things. Not a good idea to take it over from someone else, for me anyway. For a Computer whizz, no problem....
Still lots to do, and seriously considering a new PC, thing is just missed The Sales!
Previously, they had been on Freeserve, I couldn't get on with that at all, and believe me 'so much more on AOL'......but I suppose if you know where to find things....
Still have the problem of the set up of my Journal, have had several suggestions, but haven't had the time or inclination for the last few Days.I've gone into change the set up of your Journal, but it still reverts back to what it was. I've taken the 'About Me' section out altogether for the time being....will try to sort that later, and as I said may start again from scratch.:>(
Anyhow, it has been a lovely Day here, brilliant Sunshine all day, but cold. I had a Friend round this afternoon for a couple of hours chat, and I'm feeling reasonably well today. But each day is different. I have Drs in the morning, so Taxi there, and walk back if the weather holds, usually takes about 50 mins, but 5 mins in the Car.

This is taken from my Bedroom window......back in the Summer, although it's a bit of a drab Day. My house is the last on the Road ......depending on which direction you are travelling I suppose :>), and then it is the first House (lol)

Feeling Frustrated
Just a quick Hello!
Well, back for a few minutes....cannot get along with the 'new' Computer. I don't know if I said before, but it has been used by a Family of a Friend of mine. Lots of stuff to get through. I deleted 570 emials last night...a lot of it 'Spam' mail, and they were on Freeserve. I am beginning to think AOL isn't all that bad, and I''m missing a lot of the features. I'm not so computer literate, but get by.Allan doesn't know it yet, as I have only made my mind up tonight, but I'm seriously thinking of buying a new one. We will have to see.
I may not be around for a few days, but just wanted to explain my absence....as I can't always get online. Also, if I decide to keep this one, it is certainly going in for a 'Check up'
Health wise, I was at the Ophthalmology Clinic, and they took several photographs inside the eye....again. Now go back in March ~ I did attend the Maxillofacial the week before, and was met by 3 Drs, the usual one, and two others, all Female. Unknown to me it had been arranged for one of them to examine me, as she works alongside the Gynaecological Oncologist who saw me last February. She couldn't understand why I hadn't been referred to her, as this condition affects the Mouth/Nose/Eyes and Vulva. Fortunately for me I haven't got it on the Skin up to now.Hopefully, mine has been caught early, but they have been treating me for different things for almost two years, but it's not known how long someone can have had the condition (Cicatricial Pemphigoid) I still have to have the blood test every week. But as I have to see the Practice Nurse this week, it will be done then. Only two appointments next week! one being my own Dentist.
This is the only the second time I have been able to get into my Journal, since the change over. So I may be MIA for a while.Even considering starting up a 'New' one.....which will be my third (lol). This one is in a mess, and haven't had time to 'talk' to AOL help. I also lost over 300 graphics, but that was the night BEFORE we logged off. But I still have some on my AOL Pictures...I think"going to try to insert one now"......

I'll say 'Bye for now, hopefully be back soon
