Garden State

If you haven't seen this film, you really should - it's awesome. Zach Braff has a bright future ahead of him if he keeps doing stuff like that. I bought the soundtrack for Iain on Monday - the music Braff has chosen for the film is wonderful, the soundtrack CD is full of great songs. Listen to it! :D
Went out last night with Iain, Trent, his son Zach and our friend Cath. Had nice food, then went back to Trent's and hung out playing Trivial pursuit - it was funny, Cath and I were asking them questions from the American set and they were asking us questions from the British set, hehe. Iain won, but apparently he was rooting for me ^.^
Had a lazy day today - didn't get up 'till 12 >.< Watched Iain play Goldeneye on X-box and did some website updating. He made me a peanut butter and jam sandwich - he was amazed that they're not something we eat here. I'd never tried one 'till a few days back - but they really are surprisingly good. :o)
I called Victoria Lewis, a recruitment agency that I sent my CV to on Monday. They said they're reading through my CV then they'll give me a call for me to go in for an interview with them. Still waiting to hear from Cath's friend at Reed employment - he was supposed to call me yesterday with some possible temping jobs. If I haven't heard from him today I'll ask Cath for his number and call him up.
Hopefully this will all start coming together soon - when I get a job up here I'll have to somehow arrange moving the stuff from my house to wherever I find to live here. Trent has very kindly offered to put me up until I find somewhere here to live (here is Cambridgeshire by the way, hehe). It's just going to be a nightmare trying to schedule the move nicely and stuff! I have soooooo much garbage to throw out at home.. but my mum's said she can store a lot of my stuff at her place.
Have to find somewhere to live that'll take cats, too! Well, I can give my one cat to a friend, but I want to keep Charlie.
By the way, hello Tara from California; glad you like my journal! ^.^

Owwie

I thought I broke my little toe last night :o( I was walking through a doorway barefoot and kicked the doorframe. I think it's just bruised though - I can move it and it hasn't gone all black and blue or anything - just a little red and swollen ;o)
I'm watching Sister Act - I hadn't realised that the main nun woman is Maggie Smith, the same woman who plays Professor Minerva McGonagall in Harry Potter. This is a funny film! Haven't seen it for yeeeeeeears. I liked the second one too.
(Yes, Stuart, I'm a wimp :p)
Getting some money from the post office tomorrow then treating Iain to a meal in the local pub here. It's in a village called Little Stukeley and the pub is a converted farmhouse, some 300 years old I guess. It's very nice and homey inside and they serve wonderful pub grub! Mmmmmmm fooooooooood
Okay, gonna go now 'cause I'm just rambling. Got pokemon ruby to play on my GBASP. What's a GBASP I hear you ask? A Game Boy Advance SP. The SP is smaller than a regular GBAS (it's a square about three inches each side and 3/4 inch deep. It's better than the regular GBA too in that it has a backlight - you don't have to struggle to catch the light with the screen to play ;o)
Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, off now to catch me some pokemon and watch Sister Act. :-D
PS - does anyone else get teary-eyed when they hear awesome singing? O.o

Crazy Day

What a bizarre day.
First I find out that an online friend of mine has been rather seriously beaten up by his boyfriend. So that was a bit of a worry.
Then, some 30 minutes ago, my mum called me to tell me that my stepsister has left her husband of 5 months (I went to their wedding back in August) because she doesn't love him any more. Apparently she's been feeling that way for around 8 months. So why did she go through with marrying him?!?
What a crazy crazy day.
On a slightly different note, we've been having mini bouts of snow and sleet. The sky will go black for a few minutes then clear up and the sun will come out again. I want snow! BIG THICK SNOW! ROAR!

Success!

They came to take the digger away from the protest site today. Contractors have delayed work on the bypass because of the protesting. The company contracted to cut down the trees have pulled out as they don't want the aggro.
YAY!!! Awesome news. The county council are in emergency session as I type. ;o)
Check the site - www.linsladeprotest.org.uk - and don't forget to leave your comments in the guestbook!

Poor trees :o(

I've just heard that some guys with chainsaws have turned up at the Linslade protest site to start cutting down the trees. A few protestors have gathered there to stop them.
I've always had a 'thing' for trees. An affinity, I dunno. I used to play in a huge oak tree when I was younger - the bottom of the tree was hollow and I used to climb inside and pretend I was in that story.. um.. some Enid Blyton story I think? I can't remember.
Anyway... whenever I see trees being cut down, I always get emotional and feel tearful. So much life being destroyed - what right does mankind have to do that? We live on what could potentially be a wonderful, beautiful planet and we're destroying it.
Part of me is glad I'm not at the protest site 'cause I think I'd be going mad, lol.
Anyway - visit the website (http://www.linsladeprotest.oneuk.com/bypass/bypass.html), please, and sign the guestbook - the more people are involved with this thing, the more impact the protest will make.
P.S. Thanks Sara - that was indeed the book I was thinking of!! Yay!!!

Stop The Linslade Bypass!

Hello everyone! I know I haven't made an entry in quite a while, but I've been rather busy. I've been at Iains' since last Wednesday, looking for a job and hanging out. A friend up here is re-writing my CV for me (she does them professionally) - she's also looking for a job for me, she used to work at Reed employment and is pretty sure she can find me a job here.
In the meantime, I've had two website requests - both for one person. The first is a website to show her work as a writer, and the second is an emergency site she requested at 10pm Sunday night, lol. I got the site up and running by 1am Monday morning (whew!) and have been adding to it since then as updates are sent to me.
Please check it out, as it's for a great cause - http://www.linsladeprotest.oneuk.com/bypass/bypass.html
Apologies for the lack of formatting in this entry, I'm utilising modern technology and submitting an entry via my journal bot on AIM. (All together, now - ooOOooh!!)
Better go now, got some more work to do on the site. Thanks all for your comments and support regarding my last entry - feeling much better now than I was then!

Feeling Sad

Down and Out

Don't really feel like writing an entry right now but I suppose I'd better.

I'm in serious financial problems - we're all getting laid off at the end of January (I'm actually finishing the end of this week 'cause I have leave left). We haven't been paid since November and won't be getting paid until February. I'm beeing threatened with having my gas and electric cut off - they won't postpone the bill like they have before.

There are other issues getting me down but I don't feel like talking about them now. I'm in work and if I think about it too much I'll burst out crying in the office.

So another time. Hope all my journal readers are well. Sorry for not updating in so long.
