Peninsula league
Dartmouth AFC 1 Ivybridge Town 0
There is no doubt that footballers and football supporters are schizophrenic. It's all very well on a beautiful day in May in a cup final or at the run in for a league title but we turn out on a day like today in the hope of seeing magical fooball but often it doesn't happen
Our friends and local rivals from Ivybridge trooped up to Dartmouth on Good Friday, the sky was dark, the cold wind blew a gale across Longcross and a good crowd huddled for shelter to watch a game which no-one enjoyed.
The players tried their hardest, Sam Churchill did some lovely Cruyff turns that sat the opposition on their backsides, Jamie Bowker turned in a farewell performance before he takes off to the USA on a coaching course, and John Rimmer knocked in a winning goal following a huge goalkeeper kick in the final minute.
But in truth neither team deserved to win or lose this match and I soon headed home to wish for better things to come. Well done Jamie and the lads, 3 points are always 3 points and next time we meet Ivybridge I hope we have one of those great games we often have against you
In Spain you can sue the Met Office for bad weather and in this country we should be able to do the same. My fingers are still frozen as I type this report.
