8th March
Dartmouth AFC 2 Launceston 3
This was my first game for a while and on a grey wet blustery day a somewhat sombre experience
After a bad Launceston goal keeping error Andy Widdecombe opened the scoring for us from 35 yards with a great opportunist strike
But when we failed to close down the opposition, Launceston came back minutes later with a fine goal from outside the penalty box, and this led to a long period when the visitors were on top
In the second half they went further ahead and only then did we seem to be able to mount any pressure. Eventually Richie headed us a goal which led to an assault on the Launceston goalmouth for 20 minutes but in the end the visitors were deserved winners
Benny was without 8 players today and at this level even talented substitutes are not enough. We lacked shape and resolve and this was a result which probably excludes us winning the championship
But we have a very young side which can only go on getting better and it was great to see young Jason Havelin come on in the last few minutes. We will win this league even if we have to wait until next year !
