I MUST SAY

I must tell you what I know of space

My brothers in science are looking there for me

They have very little to tell

Except that it is big

I must tell you of life down here

Of all that matters to me

Of the distance between us

And our close proximity

I must describe how best I see you

With my minds eye first to see

What light does not illuminate

Is not reality

Astronomers discovered that

Space is expanding fast

Or so we are led to believe

From some almighty blast

It does not matter how

Why should us, this perplex

It’s there for God’s sake

Why can’t we leave it at that?
