Yesterday I celebrated my Birthday ~ I had a great day ~ starting off first thing in the morning when I opened the door to the little sitting room which is where my computer lives It was pretty well crammed with Balloons ~ :o)

On one chair there were some Birthday Presents ~ as you can probably see I got lots of things for the Birds~ Seed ~ peanuts ~ fat balls ~ as they know I love to feed them ~ and Russell made me a new Bird table which they took too at once ~ (The birds that is :o) and some DVD's ~

Lyn took me out for a Birthday Lunch and Tom joined us it was really lovely ~

and I just want to thank you for sending me Birthday Cards both through Snail Mail and e~mail ~ I was very touched at such thoughtfulness ~

The day before my birthday when I woke I realised I could not hear very well ~ when I put the TV on it was very odd as it was like listening through a tunnell ~ I rang the Nurse who when I went to see her she said both my ears needed syringing ~ I have never ever had any trouble with my hearing ~ I have to put this Olive Oil down both ears for a week ~ then she said next Wednesday she would give me my hearing back ~ Lyn and the receptionist were laughing as I couldn't hear what she was telling me ~ so she wrote me a note ~ and handed it to me ~

Went to see My Sister Joy this morning and she said she had noticed for a couple of weeks I didn't answer her when she spoke to me ~ (But she forgave me:o) being as I had not heard the questions ~

We hopefully are having a BBQ tomorrow if the weather holds out ~ and even a swim if it is warm enough ~ But if it is a nasty day will be having a Roast Sunday Dinner ~ there will be 12 of us ~ so that should be a fun day ~

Sparham Garden party

Last Saturday our friend Carol opened her garden to host the "Sparham Garden Party" It was such a lovely day the Sun shone non stop and just a cloud or two in the sky ~

There were lots of people turned up more than in past years ~ probably the weather had a lot to do with the turnout ~there were games for the children and many other games for the grown ups ~ stalls of all kinds ~

We had a raffle and a home made cake stall ~ two old vintage cars where you had to guess the mileage they had done ~

I had the most important :o) task of folding the raffle ticket stubs and there were many of them as you can see from the basket nearly full to the top ~

We made a great sixteen hundred pounds for the Church funds so everyone was pleased that the day went so well

We were entertained by a brass band ~and the children did a Maypole dance to entertain us ~

I really enjoy these Village Fetes ~ it is a good way of meeting other Village people ~ call me old fashioned but I do enjoy these times ~ they all add to stored memories of such happy times ~

Caring Barney

Barney is such a caring little chap ~ Nin was off colour and had snuggled up in my dressing gown ~ and Barney knew all was not well ~ He tried his best to get in with Nin but there just was not enough room for the two of them ~

So he ended up sitting on the edge of the chair keeping guard on his buddy ~

By Dinnertime Nin had perked up and today is as right as rain ~

The Honeysuckle bush at the top of the garden you can only see if you go through the arch ~ as it is hidden from view ~ but it looked and smelled to lovely I took it's picture :o)

Nice few hours out

We went to Wolterton Hall on Sunday ~ they had an "Organic Garden Day" there and it was really enjoyable ~ lots of stalls selling lots of different things ~ Jewellery ~perfumes ~ soaps ~ One chap who was selling Honey was so interesting telling us where he takes his bees to get different flavoured honey ~ stalls selling Organic Vegetables ~ and of course there were the Aplaca's : Which I found fascinating ~

Do you remember my bank messing up my account last time I wrote ~ when I lost my plastic ~ well the following day a Huge big boquet was delivered for me from my Bank with apologies ~ someone had managed to alter my Post code and aparently I had not received any mail from them since last November ( I hadn't even noticed :o) with on line and telephone banking you can keep in touch ~ so really no need for snail mail ~ until you are waiting the delivery of a new plastic banking card that dosn't arrive ~ :o) then you realise something isn't quite right :o)

How can I describe Monday ~ Other than to say it was a day of pitfalls ~

We were going to the Coast to do some business ~ really just to collect some printing we had done

but on our way I realised I had lost my Bank card ~ we decided to go into Sheringham to my Bank to make sure it was cancelled ~ when we arrived at the Bank it was Lunch time and there was only one young girl dealing with everything

She ordered me a new card ~ but did not cancel the lost one ~ saying that my old card would stop when I received the new one ~ I felt sorry for her as there was a queue of people waiting to be served ~ she gave me a phone number to call to cancel my old card myself ~ getting on the mobile outside the bank phoned the number she had given me but could not understand the person who answered the call it was a terrible line ~ later I ended up going back into the Bank and spoke to the Manager who had returned from her Lunch break ~ she sorted it all out in less than 10 minutes ~

Then we went to pick up the printing we had ordered ~ when Lyn checked the order she found that they had printed our www web number incorrectly ~ he asked us to return about an hour and a half later and he would have them ready for us ~ so we Drove into Cromer and looked around the shops ~

we went into one where I reached up to get a battery and a hugh heavy battery fell from the shelf right onto my right foot ~ you would not believe the bump that appeared on my foot it was huge ~ I was really near to tears ~ but the woman serving us was only intent on taking the money for my purchase and didn't ask if I was OK ~ that is one shop I won't go into again

We went back to collect the printing and you wouldn't believe it they had done it wrong again ~ the Chap apologised and said he would do them again and put them in the post for us ~ (which we actually received this morning)

what other disaster happened ~ OH YES ~ Lyn went in the shower when we arrived home and asked me to turn the spaghetti that was on the stove off ~ without looking I accidentally turned it up so burnt the saucepan

Lyn reckons I am becoming accident prone ~ what with burning my hand with the hot coffee ~ my accident I had a few weeks ago and Monday ~ I am beginning to agree with her ~ but they say things come in three's so perhaps that is the last of my accidents ~ I really do hope so

Today Lyn and I both had a visit booked at the Dentist ~ neither of us wanted to go ~ BUT KNEW WE REALLY HAD TO ~ we did eventually manage to arrive before our appointed time and when the dentist had seen us both we were glad we had kept our appointment ~ Lyn just had a scale and polish and I had one filling and a scale and polish ~ and do not have to go to see him for another nine months ~

The weather here has been very cold and lots of rain so have not been able to get out into the garden ~ and the grass on the lawn must be at least 4/5 inches tall and really does need to be cut ~ so if anyone can spare the time would be glad of any help to get it cut :o)

Henry the Pheasant really has taken up residence in the garden and has brought his wife with him ~ which is a bit of a worry as Barney is very interested in finding out where he is ~ so we have to keep the Garden gate closed before we can let the boys into the Garden we do not want the Pheasant hurt in any way

Tom my Grandson celebrated his Birthday on the 13th April ~ we had eleven people round here ~ Nin and Barney were shut away for a while ~ but we let them come through later ~ we had a nice time and Tom loved his birthday cake ~ which Lyn had baked for him ~ so a nice time was had by all ~

Snow and Sunshine

Our Garden looked like a Winter Wonderland just over a week ago ~ yet yesterday I sat out there and it was Sunny and warm ~

Henry as we have named our Pheasant spends a great deal of time at the bird feeder ~ well after all he is a bird so I suppose he has every right ~

Barney spotted him the other day and made chase but Henry managed to clear the fence before Barney could grab him ~

Last Saturday we went to the Spring Bazaar at the school room in the village ~ Lyn and I always enjoy these events ~ they have a cake stall and sell lots of odds and ends and Books of all sorts ~ and have raffles

Lyn bought lots of books about 20 in all ~ I bought a pretty little cup and saucer for Abbie and some little bits and pieces for the children ~ we also bought some raffle tickets but did not think we had won anything ~ until today ~

We were just leaving the house to go to Aylsham when this lady approached our back door ~ she didn't notice us in the car but I called out to her and she turned round and brought over these raffle prizes we had won ~ me a bottle of red wine from Australia and Lyn a Boots gift pack of all lavender products which was a nice surprise ~

The School room is so tiny ~ I always imagine what it must have been like to attend School there way back when ~ this is such a tiny village but I am sure those children must have had a wonderful education in that little school house ~ and I hope lots of fun ~

Just popping in to let you know that Lyn is getting along really well ~ she tell's me she hasn't felt so well in ages ~ so is looking forward to a much better future ~ and as for me I am doing much better still on the old pain killers but feeling great ~

I like to do a bit of dressmaking and other than my computer my sewing machine is my very favourite passtime ~ it is computerised and so easy to use ~ Abbie was off school today so she helped me to decorate Lyn's overalls ~ they are two sizes to big for Lyn but she loves them ~ wears them to do the gardening ~ and the housework ~ they are so plain (so we Abbie and I) decided they needed prettying up :o) don't know what Lyn will say when she sees them though :o)

We have been getting out more and went shopping today and are looking forward to more outings now hopefully the weather is getting better ~

Lyn had to be at the hospital this morning at 7.15 ~ she was told last night they didn't think she would have her operation until later today ~ at least not until after 2pm. ~ but the person booked in earlier apparently was algergic to latex so Lyn took her place ~ so she was in the operating theatre really early Tom telephoned me at about 9.15 giving me this good news.

He called again about 2 1/2 later to say she was back on the Ward very sleepy but OK ~ they did do Keyhole surgery and with every bit of luck and no complications she will be able to come home to~night ~ (Bringing the Gall Stones with her) ~ :o)

Thankyou for all your good wishes for her I really do appreciate them and I know she does as well ~

Tomorrow Lyn goes to the Hospital for her pre assessment checkup and next Tuesday she will be in to have her operation ~ it seems an eternity since she got her date and I know she will be glad to get it behind her

Me I'm doing OK ~ glad Lyn let you know I had an accident ~ I havn't been able to type very much ~ certainly not as much as I would like ~ and havn't been able to drive so Tom has been driving my car rather than letting it stand idle ~ and he and Lyn take me anywhere I need to go~

As for the accident I went to see my Doctor and because the bruising was so bad he thought I had broken something and sent me off to the hospital ~ The Nurse at the surgery did attend to the cut on my arm ~ well I am glad to say I didn't break any bones ~ I bruised my shoulder and back and cut my arm ~ my right knee was black and blue ~ and I had a real good Black eye ~ which is now a nice shade of purple ~ the bruising is slowly fading ~ so hopefully it won't be too long before I am back driving ~ I certainly didn't feel ill through all of this just very very sore ~

At the hospital while waiting to see a Doctor this Big man came in with his wife and plonked himself down on the chair next to me he missed hitting my shoulder by inches ~ I think I would have hit him had he made contact with me :o) well if I didn't I think Lyn would have ~
